  • 1. Research into Album Covers-Themes and Colour
  • 2. Albums that use a range of colours : - I have chosen these three albums as they use a variety of colours ranging across the spectrum. The first in particular uses a cartoon on album cover in order to portray the creativeness that has gone into the album likewise to the third album, which has used shapes and images in different colours in order to reflect its diversity and individuality. The creative aspect in terms of colour and shape is something in which I have to bare in mind whilst creating my album cover as it has to stand out from my competitors in the shops, so I will be paying attention to detail in order to create something individual and successful.
  • 3. Albums that stick to a colour scheme: - These three Albums stick to an overall colour scheme, this being the use of three colours. The idea of three is attractive to the naked eye more than one overall colour would be. I find the idea of the colour scheme successful as I feel it looks professional and attractive to over looking buyers. This is something in which I am going to use when producing my album cover.
  • 4. Albums that stick to a black and white theme : - These three album covers stick to the theme of black and white. I feel this is effective in terms of emotion being portrayed especially in the album in the middle. It also gives the idea that “everything isn't just black and white” so its as if the albums have underlined meanings. White is associated with light, goodness, innocence, purity, and virginity. It is considered to be the colour of perfection. White means safety, purity, and cleanliness. As opposed to black, which is associated with power, elegance, formality, death, evil, and mystery. Black is a mysterious colour associated with fear and the unknown (black holes). It usually has a negative connotation. Whilst creating my album cover I will have to bare in mind what connotations particular colours have and the meaning in which they portray.
