Bilbro JB Consulting International Audience This course is designed for professionals that have minimal experience in program/project development, systems engineering or technology development and are not familiar with the use of Technology Readiness Levels (TRLs). Goal This one and a half hour course provides an introduction into what Technology Readiness Levels are, how they came into being, who uses them and how they are used - both nationally and internationally. The content provides an overview of concepts, tools, and techniques required to successfully perform TRL assessments on complex projects. Learning Outcomes Participants will have a basic understanding of TRLs as well as how they are used to assess programs/projects. They will understand the origin of TRLs and how they have evolved over the years both nationally and internationally. They will understand the benefits and the limitations of using TRLs and will have insight into what is required above and beyond TRLs to help ensure program/project successful completion. Participants will have an understanding of the terminology associated with TRLs and knowledge of the tools available to perform TRL assessments. Specific issues presented in the context of the case studies help participants gain in-depth knowledge about real-life successes and failures involving technology maturity. Learning Methods The course is a lecture with class interaction. Case studies are described that relate maturity to cost, schedule and risk impacts in the development process of real-life projects.
